Project Three: Poetry Response

A greyhound vessel inspired by a poem about Atlantis. I based this off of ancient Greco-Roman drinking/ceremonial vessels that often are seen in the form of dogs, giffins, and other similar animals.

I first handbuilt it out of solid clay, then hollowed the inside out. Then I fine-tuned the face and added the carved designs. After it's bisque fire I painted it with a cobalt blue stain.

I love how this project turned out, though I wish I had been able to rub more of the excess stain away to leave it just in the crevices.
