Ceramics Semester One Winter Final
A two-handled vessel inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's iris and sunflower paintings.
Van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter known for his prolific amount of works (from 1881-1890) and distinctive use of colors and brushwork. His formal art education consisted of time spent at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts. Van Gogh's impacted the art world through his unique art style which contributed to the foundation of modern art.
Van Gogh's energetic brushwork and color palettes have always inspired me, and he was the first Master Artist that came to mind for his project.
To complete the prompt I sculpted 3D renditions of his Iris and Sunflower paintings onto a two-handing cup- which I hand build from a pinch pot. I was challenged by the pinch pot at first, and had a time trying to get the shape how I wanted. Overall I feel very proud of my piece.
Glazes used: Every underglaze under the sun, Blick Lilac, and Mayco Irish Luck.
